Dry Fermentation Anaerobic Biodigester

The first dry fermentation anaerobic biodigester in the Americas, built through a partnership between the University and the Foundation, became operational in the fall of 2011.

The renewable energy facility will produce up to 5 percent of the campus's electricity and heating needs. Excess energy will be sold to the grid, providing a new revenue stream. Consistent with the University's commitment to sustainability, the facility will serve as a learning laboratory for students.
