A. D. Kujawa Memorial Scholarship's eight recipients
Mary Bayorgeon,
far right, and Chancellor Richard Wells congratulate eight recent recipients of the Agnes Drexler Kujawa Memorial Scholarship. Bayorgeon and her brother and sister-in-law, John and Nancy Kujawa of Berlin, established the scholarship for single mothers to honor their own mothers, who, because of family circumstances and the lack of educational opportunities for women at that time, were unable to pursue a college education. The scholarship was created to enable women with family responsibilities to obtain an education and prepare themselves for employment opportunities to better provide for themselves and their children. Since the fund's inception in 1993, 100 women have received financial assistance through this scholarship program.
