Major Liberal Arts Emphasis
Liberal Arts emphasis Required Credits 33 minimum. Recommended for students who are pursuing diverse interests and career goals in fields such as Tourism, Social Work, Human Services, Library Science, International Business, Nursing, Foreign Service, Interpreting, Criminal Justice, Translating, Journalism, Radio-TV.
A) Literature Option
- 12 credits of courses in literature: Spanish 314 is required, plus 3 additional literature courses

- 6 credits in language or a course in culture and civilization (334, 335, 332, 363,, 365).
B) Language Option
- 6 credits of courses in literature: Spanish 314 is required, plus 1 additional literature course.
- 12 credits. 9 credits in language courses and a course in culture and civilization (334, 335, 332, 363,, 365).
C) Language and Literature Option
- 9 credits in literature courses: Spanish 314 is required, plus 2 additional literature courses
- 9 credits in language. Two language courses, plus 1 either in language or a course in culture and civilization (334, 335, 332, 363,, 365).
Comment:
For all the Options A),B), and C) only ONE course from the Spanish for
the Professions (308, 341, 342,342) may be counted toward the major or
minor.
Students pursuing this emphasis are urged to consider choosing a minor in Latin American Studies, International Business, or European Studies
