Undergraduate Certificate in Japanese

Did you take Japanese in high school? Would you like to:

  • make your hard work in Japanese count in college?
  • take your speaking and writing skills to the next level?
  • increase your knowledge of Japan and its culture using Japanese?
  • earn a credential in Japanese that appears on your transcript?
  • set yourself apart on the job market by demonstrating achievement in Japanese?

Describes requirements for the undergraduate Certificate in Japanese Program.

Contact the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures (Dempsey 230) to inquire about your eligibility for retro credits—you may be able to finish the certificate more quickly. When you are ready, declare the certificate in UARC (Student Success Center 202)!

The Language Certificate in Japanese (17-18 credits) requires a minimum of C in each course taken for the certificate. Three (3) of your nine (9) 300-level credits must be taken via UW Oshkosh coursework.
