The UW Oshkosh Department of Global Languages and Cultures provides comprehensive training in language and cultures to majors, minors, certificate seekers, and students in the general education or USP courses preparing to compete in the global workforce. Students benefit from the combination of a strong liberal arts foundation and a holistic approach to global learning guided by award-winning faculty who are experts in languages including French, German, Japanese, and Spanish.

 Our philosophy

The philosophy of the Department of Global Languages and Cultures at UW Oshkosh is in full congruence with the College of Letters and Science’s mission to enhance communication skills and increase knowledge of human cultures. Our programs contribute to the intellectual, social, and emotional development of our students, supporting their growth both as individuals and as members of society.
