Information and requirements for an undergraduate Certificate in French.

Undergraduate Certificate in French

Did you take French in high school? Would you like to:

  • Make your hard work in French count in college?
  • Take your speaking and writing skills to the next level?
  • Increase your knowledge of the Francophone world using French?
  • Earn a credential in French that appears on your transcript?
  • Stand apart on the job market by demonstrating achievement in French?

Take the Wisconsin Placement test in French to see if you are eligible for retro credits—you may be able to complete the certificate more quickly. Contact the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures (Dempsey 230) with questions OR declare the certificate in UARC (Student Success Center 202)!

The Language Certificate in French (15-17 credits) requires a minimum of C in each French course taken. Three (3) of the nine (9) 300-level credits must be taken via UW Oshkosh coursework.
