Prisoners of Hope (2000)
Prisoners of Hope (2000) This excellent documentary, made by the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, shows the power of religious faith for prisoners of war behind the wire. Faith holds the POWs in a strong community of action, resistance against the enemy, and a sense of future, when all these human characteristics come under extreme stress. It is faith in God -- not any sect or denomination in particular -- that provides the roots of life in a circumstance that threatens death at every turn. This fine film combines patriotism, the POW experience, and survival into a force which depends on religious faith for fuel.
