Preservation Hall Jazz Band: A Night in New Orleans
Preservation Hall Jazz Band: A Night in New Orleans(2000) The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, named after a New Orleans building, has been playing nightly in New Orleans (except for a post-Katrina 18 months). For more than thirty years it has toured the United States and around the world. This group, with musicians ranging from their 20s to their 80s, is widely recognized as the ambassador of traditional New Orleans jazz.
This recording (they have made over a dozen) is one of the last that includes their legendary tuba player, who has since died. My favorites, in this video, are When the Saints Go Marchin’ In and Just a Closer Walk With Thee.
