The History of Sex
The History of Sex (2000) These four History Channel videos provide a cohesive, professional account of the evolution of sex in diverse civilizations. I found that the coverage of sex in ancient Greece and Rome reasonably accurate, though the data are principally on elites, with little on the other 90-95 percent of the population. I was intrigued by the suggested linkage of Chinese practices, especially Confucius and Pillow Talk, on the evolution of the Tales of the Genji. The scholarly presentation is divided into five segments: ancient civilizations, the Eastern world, the Middle Ages, from Don Juan to Queen Victoria, and the 20th century.
