Assignment Rescue
Assignment Rescue (1997) Inspiring story of how a heroic American, Varian Fry, and others (including "Beamish," subsequently the world-renowned economist Albert Hirschman) arranged the escape from Marseilles of perhaps 2,000 refugees, including hundreds of Jewish artists and intellectuals in 1941/1942. Fry was honored posthumously by Israel for his rescue of Jews sought by the Gestapo and detained in Vichy France.
