Andrew Carnegie: The Richest Man in the World (1997)
Andrew Carnegie: The Richest Man in the World (1997) Video biography doesn’t get any better than this. Two-hour The American Experience masterpiece that reveals the inner conflicts, even the soul, of a wily Scotsman who went from rags to unimaginable riches. Despite Carnegie’s efforts to rewrite history in his autobiography and through monumental philanthropy, this video lyrically reveals the good, bad, and ugly of a world-class cost manager. Marvelous on the Homestead Strike and Carnegie’s culpability. For me, the relationship portrayed between Carnegie and his master henchman Frick was the piece de resistance, culminating in Frick’s refusal of Carnegie’s reconciliation—I’ll meet you in hell, where we’ll both be going.
