Dragonboat Team Information

Team4

The Scoop: Teamwork is everything in Dragon Boat Racing. Synchronicity is more important than strength. A perfectly synchronized team will almost always beat a stronger, but less coordinated team.

The Challenge: Dragon Boat Racing is a great sport for men and women of all ages and abilities.

The Crew: The crew is comprised of 20 paddlers, plus a steersperson (provided by the Festival for each boat) and a drummer. Up to three additional alternates may be listed on the team roster. Each boat must include of a minimum of eight female paddlers (youth teams excluded). All paddlers must be at least 12 years of age.

The Races: Our race course is approximately 250 meters.  Every team is guaranteed three races. Racing will begin at 9 a.m. and end by 4 p.m.

The Captain: Each team must have a captain. The dragon boat planning committee will communicate regularly with the team captains. Team captains are responsible for communicating with their teammates.

For information on the races, visit our Oshkosh Dragonboat Team Guide.
