Team Information

The Scoop: Teamwork is everything in Dragon Boat Racing. Synchronicity is more important than strength. A perfectly synchronized team will almost always beat a stronger, but less coordinated team.

The Challenge: Dragon Boat Racing is a great sport for men and women of all ages and abilities.

The Crew: A maximum of 20 paddlers, plus a steersperson (provided by the Festival for each boat) and a drummer. Additional alternates may be listed on the team roster. Each boat must be comprised of 8 paddlers of each gender.  All paddlers must be at least 12 years of age.

The Races: Every team is guaranteed 3 races. Racing will begin at 9 a.m. and end by 5 p.m.

The Captain: Each team must have a captain. The dragon boat planning committee will communicate regularly with the team captains. Team captains are responsible for communicating with their teammates.
