A Call for Fair Trade at UW Oshkosh
Our consumer spending choices affect people's lives around the world. The products we enjoy are often made in conditions that harm workers, communities and the environment. But increasingly consumers are demanding more humane, more environmentally sensitive products. In 2008, four governance groups of the University— Faculty Senate, Senate of Academic Staff, Classified Staff Advisory Council and Oshkosh Student Association— endorsed a resolution declaring UW Oshkosh as a fair trade university. Since then, we have supported the fair trade movement and are committed to using and selling fair trade items whenever possible and appropriate.
