Computers I Have Known
- 1963, Michigan College of Mining & Technology,
Bendix G15
Personal Computer. A Bendix G15 is on display
at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.
The Bendix G15 was designed by Harry Huskey in his spare time while a
Professor at UC-Berkeley in the early '50s.
He sold the design to the Computer Division of Bendix Aviation Corp.
where he moonlighted as a consultant.
The computer contained
250 vacuum tubes, used 30A to 40A of power and used a rotating magnetic
drum for storage. We used assembly language to write programs for this
computer.
- 1965, National Security Agency, Department of Defense,
DEC PDP-1
