Esslinger Happy to Finance Seaver's Move Outside USA

August 27, 2002

Note: This letter is in response to Jody Behnke and Harmon Seaver.

To Commentary:

Mr. Behnke let me give you a BRIEF history on Mr. Seaver, if you don't already know of him. He lives in Oshkosh and has been whining ever since Oshkosh decided to widen Jackson St. (Mr. Seaver lives on Jackson St.) He either has, or had a website that has/had a lot of rubbish on it regarding various issues, primarily on the Jackson St. project. I wish I had the link to Mr. Seaver's Jackson St. website, it is truly entertaining. You couldn't buy entertainment like that. I believe Mr. Seaver has a lot of time on his hands, and stays up late watching the Sci Fi channel, or has seen too many episodes of the X-files.

As you can plainly read from Mr. Seaver's letter(s) I believe he is about as far left as you can get. Not only does he despise Oshkosh, he apparently doesn't like the United States either. I'm sure you would join me in saying that you would be more than happy to help finance his move out of the U.S.

I would also like to let you know that I'm a City Council member in Oshkosh, and I would like to invite you to stop by my home, you're welcome anytime. Maybe we can go to the EAA museum and check out the Warbirds. Don't worry, they don't start the aircraft inside, so you won't hear any "noise." Unfortunately, you had to come across the one_________ (place your own word(s) here) that lives in Oshkosh.

I'm glad to hear that you enjoy the EAA, it truly is a pleasure to have the organization in Oshkosh, and have the AirVenture every year!

I surmise from your letter that you served in the military in some capacity. I would like to thank you for defending my freedom, and keeping the USA the greatest country on the planet. As I'm sure you know, there will always be people of Mr. Seaver's ilk that first of all don't understand the price of freedom, and second of all don't have any respect for people like you who defend it.

Perhaps if Mr. Seaver moved to some Socialist or Communist country, he would understand how good he has it here in the U.S. But then again, I believe he may be a Socialist or Communist, so he may love it in a county with that form of government.

In closing I would like to say that your letter to Commentary was very well written, and that I'm sorry you had to come across the likes of Mr. Seaver.

God bless you and your family.

Sincerely,

Paul Esslinger
