Friedhelm Ost, member of the German Bundestag (parliament) was interviewed by Tony Palmeri as part of Doug Freshner's "University" program in March of 2002. Mr. Ost was in Oshkosh visiting the family that had hosted his children in an exchange program. Ost, a member of the conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party, told Palmeri that he expects CDU to take control of the Bundestag in the September 2002 elections and have CDUEdmund Stoiber replace Social Democrat Gerhard Schroeder as Chancellor. Ost served for a time as press secretary for former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl.
