Vickman Receives Diversity Award

At the Eighth Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Community and University Celebration held on January 20, 2003 at the UW Oshkosh Reeve Union, Oshkosh Webster Stanley Elementary School Principal Patti Vickman received the "Celebrating Diversity Award." To Ms. Vickman's left is Jan Viste, the Chair of the Diversity Award Recipient Selection Committee. To Ms. Vickman's right is the United States Postal Service's recently released Thurgood Marshall stamp. Ms. Vickman delivered a moving acceptance speech, a portion of which said, "A hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in my bank account nor what my clothes looked like. But the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."
