Oshkosh Common Councilor Stephen Hintz (left) appeared on Commentary in february of 2002 to discuss his reelection campaign. In April, Hintz won election to a third term. Though he finished third in the election (behind Frank Tower and Paul Esslinger), his 6 peers on the Common Council elected him Mayor. In Oshkosh, the Mayor is not elected by the people but by the 7 members of the Common Council. Steve is thus "Mayor Hintz" for at least one year.
