Menasha, WI. Gerald "Jake" Schneider of Menasha, Wisconsin, was elected Treasurer of The Green Party of the United States at the party's midterm convention on July 19th, 2002. Held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at the Historic District Holiday Inn in Philadelphia, the convention was attended by more than 200 participants from around the country, including 11 from Wisconsin.

Schneider is currently a licensed real estate broker with Midwest Real Estate, Oshkosh, and has been active in all aspects of real estate brokerage for over 25 years. A native of Hilbert, he was raised on a large dairy farm, which five of his brothers still operate as Schneider Farms. He attended St. Mary's in Hilbert, St. Lawrence Seminary in Mt. Calvary, and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Orange, California's Chapman College.

The Green Party of the United States was recognized last year by the Federal Elections Commission as the National Committee of the Green Party. In the 2000 election, Green Party presidential candidate, Ralph Nader, received 94,070 votes in the state of Wisconsin.

The National Treasurer is elected by the Green Party of the United States Coordinating Committee to a two-year term, and serves as one of seven members of the Party's Steering Committee - the body which makes decisions when the Party is not in session.

Schneider is a founding member of the Lake Winnebago Green Party, encompassing Calumet, Fond du Lac, Outagamie, and Winnebago counties, and is also currently serving as Treasurer of the Wisconsin Green Party.
