The two most influential people in the history of Commentary are Chris Lee, the student who founded the program in 1991, and Doug Freshner. Mr. Freshner is an award winning videographer who, in 1999, made it possible for Commentary to come back after an absense of several years. Under Freshner's guidance and support, the post-1999 Commentary has won two National Communicator Awards.
