Commentary Update for May 29, 2001: Willers on Forest Industry Propaganda, Fitzgerald on Planning, Citizen Statements
Dear Commentary Viewers:
Winnebago County Executive Jane Van De Hey and County Board Chair Joe Maehl are the guests on this week's Commentary. The interview will take place on Wednesday, and should air for the first time on Thursday at 7 p.m. As many of you know, Jane and Joe are not the best of friends. Perhaps Mr. Mather and I can get to the root of the conflict. Please e-mail Jim or me with suggestions as to what we should be asking them.
There are several items on the Commentary web site that you might find interesting.
UW Oshkosh Professor Emeritus of Biology Bill Willers has exposed forest products
industry propaganda masquerading as an objective report on Wisconsin Public
Television:

Also, Oshkosh Northwestern business page editor Sean Fitzgerald was gracious
enough to e-mail me a copy of what I thought was an outstanding column of his
from the Sunday Northwestern. Sean raises some questions about the recent
decision of the Oshkosh Common Council to rezone a west-side area for commercial
development without even knowing for certain what that development might be:

Two final links provide an interesting exchange on the issue of citizen
statements at the city and county level:
