Genisio Takes The Pledge
On October 15, 2002 Assembly Democratic Minority Leader Spencer Black (right) held a press conference outside the Oshkosh Public Library with Assembly District 54 candidate James Genisio. At the press conference, Genisio signed the Assembly Democrats' Property Taxpayer Protection Pledge. The pledge reads "I will not solve the state's budget deficit by raising property taxes. I will not vote to cut state shared revenue to local communities." Earlier in the month, Republican Finance Committee Chair John Gard argued that the Democrats' in fact were planning major tax hikes, to which Black had this response.
