| Use these interactive exercises to test your knowledge, and increase your awareness, of how language choices can affect a publication's ability to present fair and accurate news accounts. Keep in mind that language is continually evolving and that the guidance suggested here is not static. In many cases, members of a group may disagree among themselves about what is the most appropriate terminology. If you are unsure, it's a good idea to ask some questions so you understand what the implications may be of your word choices.
