• Play chord accompaniment using a strum of your choice (other than the plain down strum).
  
• Decide upon and play an introduction or preparatory measure(s) of your choice.
• During your introduction, give a "ready-sing" cue and/or non-verbal singing cue to start the singing.
  
• Sing along while you play.
• You will be assessed using the Song-Leading Assignment Rubric
• Playing Checkup #1 (recording due by class time on October 15)
  
• Say your name, “Checkup #1,” and what you are playing on each recording file.
• Play the following chord progression using the indicated strums

• Play the melody with 3-string chords for “Down in the Valley” on p. 20
• You will be assessed using the Playing Checkup Assignment Rubric
• To Submit your Recording:
• Make a digital recording and submit in the D2L dropbox.
• You may submit a single recording file or one file for each playing component.
• (You may use Audacity, Quicktime, GarageBand, etc.)
• Please export as .MP3, .MOV or another audio format before submitting.
• Song-leading assignment #2 (present in class on November 12)
• Choose a simple folk or children’s song with at least 3 chords
• Sources for songs include The Melody Book (on reserve), Get America Singing, Guitar Superbook
  
• Play chord accompaniment using a strum of your choice (other than the plain down strum).
• Play in the key as written, or transpose to the key of G, A, C, D, or another key you choose.
  
• Decide upon and play an introduction or preparatory measure(s) of your choice.
• During your introduction, give a "ready-sing" cue and/or non-verbal singing cue to start the singing.

• You will be assessed using the Song-Leading Assignment Rubric
