Before joining UW Oshkosh, Dr. Wing Huen was the founder and general manager of a research and development center for Bell Laboratories/ Lucent located in Shenzhen, China. He has more than 24 years' experience in the telecommunications industry and large-scale software development. He contributed towards development of operating systems on distributed networks, telecommunication software development, software portability, performance improvement, and software engineering. He managed various research and development organizations at Bell Laboratories, on electronic switching system software, intelligent networks, and network management of optical communication systems.

Prior to working in Bell Laboratories, he was an assistant professor in computer science at Illinois Institute of Technology.
