  CHILDREN AND LITERATURE

THE IMPORTANCE OF PRINT-RICH ENVIRONMENTS

"If it brings adults and children together and makes them interact intensely, then it has achieved its purpose. A good book acts as a bridge between a child and an adult, sparking lots of questions, and expanding the imagination of the child."

- Marcus Pfister, author and illustrator

This Web Page has been created to help parents and teachers learn the importance of literacy in their children/students lives. Assisting in your child's learning to read and write is a wonderful way to spend time together. This site is jam-packed with information regarding appropriate books, reading programs, and activities you can do with your children/students. There are links to frequently asked questions, articles and other appropriate links on the web that are related to reading and writing with your child.

As an aspiring elementary and special education teacher at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, I have come across many wonderful ideas and resources that I wanted to share with others through this web page. I hope that you take the time to explore all of its areas so that you too can benefit from my ideas.
If you have any questions to ask or if you would just like to respond to my web page, feel free to email me, Kayte Schmidt. As a future teacher I would love to hear any suggestions or hints that you have to offer.
