Children touching a bunny

Every other week, Pickett Fences of Oshkosh brings an animal to the classroom. This is a multipurpose event which the children thoroughly enjoy.

To express their enthusiasm, children use language to either talk to the animal, a friend, or adult.

The children learn to wait for their turn to pet, hold, feed, brush, or ride the animal.

When looking at the animal, concepts such as numbers, colors, body parts, big/little, long/short, soft/rough, and care of animals is learned.

After Farmer Wes and his animal leave the classroom, learning continues as the children write a class story or an entry in their journal.

Home Visits

House

Home visits are an important part of the EC program. They usually take place on Fridays with 2-4 visits taking place during the school year.

Home visits help us get to know both you and your child. The closer we work together, the more progress your child will make.

Field Trips

Field trips occurs several times during the year.

These help develop social, cognitive, and language skills and usually reinforce concepts studied in our units.

Typically, developing peers have been enrolled in each class at Lincoln School. These are children who are displaying no developmental delays.

The purpose is to have these children model appropriate language, play, and social skills to those who do have delays. At the same time, peer models learn acceptance of differences in others.
