Text:MINITAB Handbook, 3rd edition, by Ryan and Joiner
Grading: Final grades are based on these 700 points:
90 pts. or more A
85 pts. or more AB
80 pts. or more B
75 pts. or more BC
70 pts. or more C
65 pts. or more CD
60 pts. or more D
59 pts. or less F
I reserve the right to lower these point values at the end of the semester. That is, fewer than 90 pts. may still earn an A. (This is my version of a "curve"!)
Office Hours: Office hours are times when I will be in my office to help you. There are many other times when I am in my office. If I am in and not busy, I will be happy to help. My office hours for Spring 1997 semester are 8:30 to 10:10 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, or by appointment.
Course Content: This course is about the statistical computing software called MINITAB. The goal of the course is to make you fluent users of this software. Along the way, you will also be exposed to another package called SAS. I assume you have had some exposure to statistics and know the basics behind hypothesis testing. The five assignments will be broken down into these topics:
HW 1 Data Entry, Graphical Displays, Basic Inference
2-2, 2-3, 3-4, 3-5, 3-6, 3-9, 4-8, 4-11, 8-18, 9-13
HW 2 Simulation and the Central Limit Theorem
6-4, 6-7, 6-8, 6-12, 6-15, 6-17, 7-1, 7-11, 7-12, 7-13, 7-16
HW 3 Analysis of Variance
10-2, 10-4, 10-10, 16-3, 16-4
HW 4 Regression
11-1, 11-2, 11-6, 11-9, 11-11, 11-17, 11-32, Using SAS: 2-1, 3-4abc
HW 5 Chi Squared Procedures
