BARNHILL'S FRIENDLY MANUAL FOR EMPOWERED WRITING AND GREAT PAPERS

So what does Barnhill want in a paper? I have written a handbook on writing that attempts to be as clear and as helpful as I can to let you know what I think a good paper is and does. Be sure to read over the handbook before writing a paper for me, and refer to it during the writing process.

THE UWO WRITING CENTER

The best way to refine your writing skills is to work with someone trained in teaching writing. UWO has a fine Writing Center -- which students don't use enough. I encourage you to consider working with the Writing Center on your papers for this class. No matter what your level of writing skill, you'll learn important things and improve your grade. Check out their website and contact them to make an appointment. They are NOT their to proof read your paper at the last minute. They are there to help you learn to communicate effectively in writing.

WRITING HANDBOOKS AND GUIDES

There are countless resources for learning correct grammar and proper citation, as well as for gaining insights into the writing process. I strongly recommend purchasing a reference book, such as Easy Writer (which I use). But there are also many online sources – just be sure to find one you find most helpful and use it. UWO’s Cary Henson has an excellent site.
