Ancillary Equipment

Color frames Barndoors, tophats Color wheels and lobsterscopes Gobos/ patterns/ cookies Gobo spinners Cable: Stage is particulary hard on equipment. Code requires heavy usage cable S; or SO cable Other cables: SJ, SPF, not acceptable Rubber or Neoprene sheath over Rubber coated conductors stranded for flexibility. Filler cords to support conductors. Cable * Cable sized to source , usually 20 amp. Therefore, standard cable is 12/3 ga. Usually require a breakout to circuits. Instrument leads: Must be high temp rated leads, usually teflon insulation in fiberglas sleeve. Need be large enough for load, usually 14 ga. Asbestos leads no longer acceptable, must be encapsulated or replaced. Connectors: Parellel blade/Edison: household type Rated 15 amp and not durable enough for stage use. Stage or Banana Plugs The original stage plug: big, powerful, clunky, dangerous. Very rare now. Pin connector: Stage standard, not found elsewhere. NEMA type 5T-20 Durable, flat, but not locking, rated 20 amps/120 v. Twist Lock: usually NEMA type L5-20 Bigger, bulkier, but self-locking, rated at 20 amps/120 v. Other types sometimes found, L7-20, etc. but not currently to code. Clamps, etc. Color Changers
