TRANSCULTURAL LEARNING CULTURES IN UNIVERSITIES AND ADULT EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS
Cultural diversity and transcultural learning cultures in educational institutions have become an everyday real life experience, opportunity and challenge. Dr. Emmanuel Jean Francois, University of Wisconsin, gave insights in the phenomena of and the discourse on transcultural learning cultures from a U.S. perspective. The lecture was followed by a Q & A and discussions involving aspects of comparison and transcultural theorization in the field. Three of Dr. Jean Francois' students who accompanied him for a study abroad in the Czech Republic shared their insights with the German audience. The methodological approach of the lecture itself comprised theoretical and practical pedagogical concepts of and empirical observations on transcultural learning cultures in universities and adult education institutions. The lecture referred to recent publications by Dr. Emmanuel Jean Francois related to the topic, including Transcultural blended learning and teaching in postsecondary education (2012) and Global Education on Trial by U.S. College Professors (2010).
