Typos found in Atkins 9e starting Fall 2010
- Fundamental Constants list:
- c = 2.99792458 x 108 m/s while the book has c = 2.99792558 x 108 m/s
- Exercise a solutions:
- 17.11(a): should be 0.14 J/mol
- Odd problem solutions:
- 2.7 answer is -87.32 kJ/mol at 350 K, text answer for 400 K.
- 7.15(d) should be N = (96πa5)-1/2 {the solution given in the text is for xexp(-r/2a) not rexp(-r/2a)}
- Text:
- P. 351 eq. 9.37a is missing the frequency factor on the r.h.s. of the second equation. It should look like the first equation.
- Exercises
- 21.10a- the final concentration of 0.020 M is for species B not species A.
- Problems
- 6.1 b) it makes no sense with the rest of the question to assume bromine is in the liquid form.
