Co-Curricular Events
How do I write my response to the co-curricular events? Read on.
Only part of your education comes from your classes. Universities such as UWO have many opportunities to gain knowledge and cultural enrichment outside the classroom. When students complement their in-class education with co-curricular activities, the experiences reinforce each other. For that reason, I ask students in all of my classes to attend and respond to co-curricular events.
For ES 490, students must attend two Earth Week events, and write a response. (In some cases substitutions are acceptable if directly related to the environment.)
For each response you should give a brief (a few sentences) synopsis of the event. Then comment on the event:
>> what was interesting and not and why
>> what (if anything) surprised you
>> what you learned from it
>> how the event was related to the course
>> any insights about the event you wish to share
The response is informal – I don’t expect the depth of probing that is involved in a paper. However, the writing should be formal, typed, single-spaced, Times New Roman 12 point, with good grammar, spelling, paragraph construction, etc.
Each response (for a single event) should be one half to three quarters page long, single spaced.
Put your name, the title of the event, and the date at the top.
