About Barb
I have devoted my professional career to serving students and staff in Wisconsin public schools for over 35 years in order to make a positive impact on student learning. I am a lifelong learner who believes in addressing individual student needs. Although I am retired from K-12 responsibilities as a teacher and administrator, I continue to look for ways to serve public education. For example, I continue to serve as a substitute principal when requested.
I was attracted to the EXCEL Center because of the opportunities to help individual teachers as well as school districts in making sure that our classrooms are staffed by qualified teachers committed to improving student learning. We all have a responsibility to making sure that our students reach their full potential.
In my free time, I enjoy a variety of interests: traveling, listening to all kinds of music, reading, making pies, having dinner guests over for an evening of good food and conversation, watching movies, cheering for the Wisconsin Badger Football Team and the Green Bay Packers, and spending time with my Welsh Corgi Oliver (who shares his home with me). I also enjoy volunteering for the Oshkosh Area United Way, the Oshkosh Symphony Orchestra, and SOAR. SOAR (Special Opportunities for Artist Residencies) provides funding for hands-on active learning with talented artists and enhances classroom learning for Oshkosh Area School District students.

“Resolve to be tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and the wrong. Sometime in life you will have been all of these.”
