Step 4: Coursework

You may fulfill the Coursework for your new license, as outlined in your individualized plan, at any 2 or 4 year accredited institution and in any format (i.e. face to face, online, etc). However, the EXCEL Center must approve all courses, other than those offered through UW Oshkosh, prior to enrollment in the course.
You must register for all UW Oshkosh courses through the EXCEL Center - do not register on your own. Compacted (accelerated) courses, both in credit and time, are available for some licensure areas. Please email Erika at excel@uwosh.edu with the courses you would like to be enrolled in.
Please be sure that you plan ahead as there are deadlines for enrolling in courses at most institutions. To check the deadlines for UW Oshkosh, please click here.

You must maintain a 3.00 GPA in all coursework completed for this program.
Evidence of relevant, applicable life experience may be submitted in order to meet any course requirement identified after the review of your transcripts. You must justify that evidence of life experience is consistent with the learning outcomes in a specific UW Oshkosh course description through a personal statement, relevant evidence and a supporting third party statement. The EXCEL Center is great!!!!!!!! As a full time teacher who also works most nights as a WIAA Official, finding the time and program to pursue my Adaptive Physical Education Certification was hard to do. Then I found UW-Oshkosh and the EXCEL Center. The staff informed me of what I needed, and did all the leg work and registration for me. They were so helpful when I needed questions answered or if I didn't know what to do next. The course work was of great importance to me and the online classes fit great into my busy schedule. I was able to complete the certification in one school year!!! I have and will continue to HIGHLY recommend UW-Oshkosh and the EXCEL Center to any teachers who are looking to further their education while pursuing further certifications.
