The Big Surprise: Dresden

Most of the students had not even heard of Dresden before going on this trip. They were in for a surprise! As they soon discovered, Dresden is absolutely wonderful. The city itself has lots to offer (great Baroque architecture, significant art collections), has a very interesting history (especially the firebombing during World War II and the subsequent rebuilding), and is located in a beautiful part of the country. We all enjoyed getting a break from huge capital cities and getting out into nature. We visited a castle and a fortress, walked along the river, went for a hike in the mountains, and had a lot of fun with ducks and other animals.
