Takes all kinds, especially in an Environmental Studies program. Check out some of our current ES majors.

Kelly Reyer --expected graduation: spring 2012
My chief interests in the environmental studies field include conservation, biology, governmental regulation and environmental law. Political science has been my minor since I started Kelly Reyerat UWO; I’ve always wanted to know more about politics, especially how it relates to environmental protection and development. Some of my experiences thus far have included participating in the Clean Boats Clean Waters internship in the summer of 2010, and I am the current intern for the Fox/Wolf Watershed Alliance. As well, I began working in the Environmental Studies and Sociology departments as a Student Office Assistant in 2008 and will continue to work in these offices until I graduate. I have really enjoyed working with department staff, faculty and students over the years. I have a current G.P.A. of 3.74 and am a member of Golden Key Honour Society as well as the National Society of Leadership and Success. In the spring ’11 semester, I won the Edward L. Schultz Scholarship for the Sciences for my academics as well as my commitment to my major. My plans following graduation are to find internships and other learning experiences that will help to build my resume and will aid in pinpointing the type of field that fits my interests.

Vanessa Born – expected graduation: Spring 2013
Vanessa BornBesides having a major in Environmental Studies, I also have a major in Secondary Education in Biology and a minor in Health Education. My goal is to combine these three elements into a curriculum where students will learn the complex interconnectedness of our world. My main interests are ecology, human anatomy and physiology, and reproductive health. I have a current GPA of 3.75 and am a member of Golden Key International Honour Society, the National Society of Leadership and Success, Student WEA, and Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education. When I am not working my butt off trying to graduate within six years, I enjoy spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, trapping, camping, and running. I have found running to be the most enjoyable activity because it clears my mind, keeps me healthy, and connects me to the environment when I am out on my favorite trail. After I graduate, I hope to find a job teaching in a public middle school and also qualify for the Boston Marathon.
