Curt Hendricks (May ’08, ES with Geography minor) spent the summer of 2008 as a SCA intern with the Army Corps of Engineers in Kentucky. He is thrilled about being hired for a permanent position in the Corps as Park Ranger, starting in September. (8/08)
Phil Hahn (Jan '07, ES & Biology dbl major): I am currently a graduate student at UWGB in the Environmental Science and Policy program. For my thesis research I have designed a series of field experiments to test how herbivores and garlic mustard (an invasive woodland plant) interact to reduce native plant diversity. My research attempts to elucidate the complex interactions that drive ecosystem changes and facilitate exotic species invasions. I have amassed almost a summers worth of field data and am beginning to analyze the preliminary results. These data will help to improve woodland restoration and management strategies. (8/08)
Christopher Ingram (May ’08, ES & Geology dbl major, Geography minor) is Geologist/Environmental Scientist at Kapur and Associates, Inc. (8/08)
Steven Jeffery (May ’07, ES with Geography minor) is completing his masters degree in library science at U.W. Milwaukee. He has moved to Big Sky country, where he is the Natural Resources Librarian at the Montana State Library. (8/08)
Joanna McKasy (May '05, Biology major with ES minor). I spent 2006-07 at U of Minnesota Duluth and Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center, www.wolf-ridge.org. I loved it. In 2007-08, I was a first year teacher, middle school science in Glades County, FL. It was hard, I am not going to lie to you, but I made it. My 8th grade students had a 9 percent gain on the FL state science test. I couldn’t be more pleased. I am in the process of moving as I just accepted a teaching job at a charter K-12 school called Academics of Excellence in Bunnell, FL, by Daytona Beach. I will be teaching middle school science, physical science and biology. It sounds great. I have been a board member of CRCA RiverWatch, and just attended a grant writing lecture. Pass on to all students that it is important to have experience in grants. I learned so much in just 2 hours. Networking with just the board has been a great deal of help finding a job. (8/08)
