Join the ES Club and get your hands dirty by in their work to make the future Rydell Nature Center on Little Lake Butte des Morts (on the northern edge of Lake Winnebago). Clear the invasive buckthorn, help build a walkway, and have some fun.

Wolves and the Greening of Yellowstone

Wolves and the Greening of Yellowstone with speaker Jim Evanoff, Environmental Specialist, Yellowstone National Park. the presentation will cover the following topics: Wolf reintroduction and the Greening of Yellowstone. Come and listen to Jim Evanoff. Stay and hear a very upbeat talk about how the park is finding solutions to lots of environmental issues - bio-diesel vehicles, composting food waste, non-toxic cleaning products, recycling the propane fuel canisters, and lots more.

Speaker will be Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt speaking about Sustainable Green Bay. the public is invited, no reservations are needed, but seating is limited. Program starts promptly at 12:10.

Creating Sustainable Communities, with speakers Mayor Dave Cieslowicz of Madison, WI, Mayor Frank Tower of Oshkosh, WI and UW Oshkosh Chancellor Richard Wells. the historic signing of the US Mayors' Climate Protection Agreement will take place at this event. Members of the Oshkosh Common Council will be present. Council member Tony Palmeri will host the event.

Becoming Allies for Social Justice, with speaker Paul Kivel, Violence Prevention Educator. An interactive talk for people who want to build a campus community based on safety, healing, and justice. We each have a part to play in building a safe, equitable, and inclusive community. How can our diversity be our strength? How can we act together across our differences to understand and address the social problems that confront our society? In our time together we will develop a framework and vocabulary for community building and social justice work.

Men's Work: To Stop Male Violence

Men's Work: To Stop Male Violence, with speaker Paul Kivel, Violence Prevention Educator. This is an interactive workshop for women and men who want to understand the roots of male violence and the role that gender, race, and class play in perpetuating exploitation and various forms of violence. Why is the vast majority of interpersonal and institutional violence committed by men? How can men work as allies to women in building safe, just and equitable communities? We'll look at men's roles, male privilege, and the responsibilities, and opportunities that men have to do Men's Work at the personal, interpersonal, mentoring and institutional level.

Film Do Not Go Gently, Mary Bouche, executive director of the Alzheimer's Association and Jo Mellen, director of NEWIST will be there to introduce the film and answer any questions/comments after the movie. Do Not Go Gently celebrates the lives, work and wisdom of three remarkable artists who have maintained their creative productivity well into their golden years. their stories illustrate the role of creativity and art in contributing to a long, happy, healthy and vibrant life. the film uncovers the science of lifelong creativity through interviews with gerontologist Dr. Gene Cohen, whose groundbreaking work provides a deeper understanding of the aging brain. the program also documents the importance of creative outlets to elders with Alzheimer's Disease and other age-related disabilities.

Toxic Bodies: Endocrine Disruptors And the Lessons of History

Dr. Nancy Langston, environmental historian at UW Madison's Department of Forest and Wildlife Ecology and the Nelson Institute of Environmental Studies. This talk explores the ways scientists, industry, consumers, and regulators negotiated growing controversies over synthetic estrogens, and examines the ways that endocrine disruptors in the post-war era changed the internal ecosystems of human, livestock, and wildlife bodies, interconnecting our bodies with our environments in increasingly complex ways.
