American History and Culture
Course: WBIS 188
Instructor: Foster, Morgan
We read books to better understand human nature and to understand the world around us. What happens to readers when their world is depicted in a racist, stereotypical, and/or offensive way--or perhaps worse yet, what happens when their world is completely ignored in literature? To help answer this, our class will look at trends in young adult literature; specifically, the 1960s-70s, and what those trends mean for readers.
