What Can We Learn From The Hobbit

Good fantasy literature gives us insight into our own world. In this class, we'll read essays which examine the real world philosophical and psychological truths embedded in great fantasy literature like Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Narnia Chronicles, The Hunger Games and more. To understand the essays, students will need to know the basic plot and characters of this semester's focal fantasy as noted in the class title. Focal fantasies change semester to semester.
