Talking about social media
As with everything, “social media” have up and down sides to them. We are all too familiar with the potential problems that can arise not only from those who obtain biographical information (legally and otherwise), but also from those who feel at liberty to post information (often with pictures) that can lead to less-than-stellar first impressions. It is well-recognized that potential employers are routinely accessing social media outlets. Social media outlets should preferably give an initial “emotional” boost to the introvert, not perpetuate the person’s inner call to self-isolation. The misuse of present (and those that will emerge in the future) social networking technology underscores the importance of moderation!

Changes in journalism
Very nice article (“Old-School Journalism vs. New Media” by David Williams). It’s fascinating to see how digital advancements have impacted my original profession (print journalism) as well as my current field of organizational communications/marketing. My advice to today’s journalism schools is simple: Prepare students to use emerging technologies but never stop stressing the importance of accuracy, relevance and strong writing skills. Thanks for a great publication!
