Campus News: Event honors former football coach Russ Young
The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh celebrated the success of former Titans football head coach Russ Young with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and banquet April 2.
“Russ Young was the most successful football coach at UW Oshkosh, having won three conference championships,” said John Morelli ’87, Titan Touchdown Club president. “He was a leader, a mentor and a friend to those who played for him.”
The evening also included the inaugural presentation of the Russ Young Leadership and Achievement Award to Jim Jaeger ’65, a one-time Titans quarterback who played for Young. The award honors former UW Oshkosh football players or coaches who have demonstrated the ideals of Russ Young’s legacy through his or her career accomplishments, community involvement, moral character and positive contributions to the world of sports.
