Women's studies major added
The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh has received approval from the UW System Board of Regents to offer a women’s studies major beginning in fall 2009. Currently the University offers a 21-credit minor in women’s studies; approximately 30 students are enrolled in the minor. The women’s studies minor at UW Oshkosh, created in 1974, was the first in the UW System.

Student Recreation and Wellness Center earns award
The innovative design of UW Oshkosh’s Student Recreation and Wellness Center received an Outstanding Sports Facilities Award from the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association. The annual award recognizes creative designs of new, renovated or expanded collegiate recreational facilities.

New master's degree proposed
The Educational Foundations Department of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s College of Education and Human Services is developing a proposal for a master of science degree in education (MSE) in educational foundations and cultural studies.

Tom Lechnir inducted into Hall of Fame
Tom Lechnir, who has been a part of 917 victories as a player, assistant coach and head coach at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh since 1979, was inducted into the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame on Feb. 14.

Social Justice Week champions inclusive, fair environment
In recognition of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh’s commitment to championing social justice and providing a fair, inclusive and welcoming environment for the entire campus community, the University held its first Social Justice Week March 30–April 3. The event concluded with a ceremony unveiling the Oshkosh 94 Memorial Scholarship, created in the names of the UW Oshkosh students who were arrested an expelled for protesting racial issues on Nov. 21, 1968.
