A PAGE OUT OF HISTORY

The University library (above), previously located in Dempsey Hall, featured a large, 300-seat reading room and a formidable reference and circulation desk. To accommodate a growing campus, Polk Library was built in sections in 1962 and 1969. The library underwent another transformation this fall with the opening of Polk 101, a study space that combines the best of a traditional reference room with a comfortable, technology-rich environment - and even a coffee cart.
