The Titans shut down the Indian’s offense early on and beat them handily. Greek and residence hall banners were a common site at football games. It would be another two years before Oshkosh would play home games at their new Titan Stadium. Former Greeks are invited back to campus this fall for the All-Greek Reunion Oct. 12-14. Newlin recreated the earlier image found in the University Archives, as part of a class assignment for the UW Oshkosh Rephotography project that compares then-and-now images of how campus has changed during the past 140 years. University archivist Joshua Ranger said the black-and-white photo was likely taken in spring 1944.

In addition to a sold-out football game and a dance, the event featured an estimated 600 alumni — representing at least 44 different graduating classes — who returned to Oshkosh for reunions. Two days later, many of the graduates, organized by class, participated in a procession around campus as they made their way to a formal jubilee program held in the school’s gymnasium.
