Driving 550 miles overnight to Omaha, Neb., after missing the flight to the Creighton game. An occasional starter, I played only the last minute and 43 seconds of that game, about one second for every five miles of driving. It was here that I learned that enthusiasm has its limitations. That said, the Creighton chapter of my fraternity, Sigma Tau Gamma, couldn’t have been nicer and more welcoming, when I showed up, unannounced, looking for a place to spend the night.
