Alumni Memory: Kevin Kohlhagen ’00

The best memory I have of UWO is graduating from college with a degree.  I fought hard to get into UWO as they originally rejected my application and gave some advice on additional classes to take to get into that school, as I did not meet the minimum requirements for college.

My high school guidance counselor would also not recommend me for college and said that I would never amount to anything and that I would be a waste going to college.  I really buckled down after that comment and took UWO’s suggestions and completed the additional schooling and then was finally accepted into UWO.

For the next four years, I studied hard and then I was able to walk down that graduation stage and obtained my college degree and was the greatest accomplishment at that time.  Ten years later, I have served as Chief of Police, eat your heart our guidance counselor!
