
The festival committee is seeking volunteers to help with practice sessions as well as race day for the Dragon Boat Race and Festival.
We need your help! Please let us know if you would like to help with:
Practice days: Dock Helpers, pontoon boats and drivers, and spotters
Race Day: Set up, general information, floaters and runners, boat marshals, volunteer food workers, finish line/results runner and clean up.

Practice Weekend
Friday, September 11 & Saturday, September 12
*Practice Day Dock Helper: Assist paddlers as they enter and exit the boats. Assist with other needs when practice is in session.
*Practice Boat Driver & Spotter:The driver’s responsibility is to drive the safety pontoon boat (provided) and the spotter assists in spotting for fast boats & holding ‘no wake’ sign to ensure safe waters for paddlers.

*Concessions: Assist customers by taking orders and serving food & drinks.
Race & Festival Day
Saturday, September 26, 2009
* Set Up: Assist the morning of the races in setting the festival grounds and preparing for the races.
*General Information/Volunteer Tent: Answer questions about the event, provide teams and guests information on ground locations, etc.
*Floater/Runner: Operate out of the Volunteer tent to relay messages and run errands to different areas within the park, assist as needed in any of the areas.
* Marshals & Dock Helpers: Assist paddlers as they line up and secure life jackets. Ensure all paddlers are in order to safely enter boats. Assist paddlers enter and exit boats. Assist removing water from capsized boats.
*Finish Line Results Runner: Delivers race results between the finish line and results board. Ensures the Results Board Operator has the correct information.
*Concessions Booth: Assist customers by taking orders, tickets, and serving food.
*Children’s Activities: Assist with children’s craft, face-painting and entertainment.
*Boat Drivers & Spotters: Drive boats that assist in slowing water traffic and/or serve as spotters during the races.
*Clean up: Assist with the packing and organizing of materials and equipment. Assist in tearing down and packing tents. Help pick up event grounds.
